This page compares the number of vacancies for Senior and Junior developers.
In the CIS there are usually about 10 seniors looking for a job for 1 junior. The market has suffered at all times and will suffer from an acute shortage of good specialists. Each company wants to take possession of the gift and is ready to accept an experienced developer in its ranks at any time. In turn, juniors are not trusted by all. Mainly such positions are taken in companies that outsource, when it should be done as a good value for the money, this is the key criteria
In the west, preference is usually given to reliable, well-established, ‘corporate’ technologies. But the thing is that the spread between vacancies is not so great. If the CIS chokes on the lack of senior developers, then in the west, seniors are looked for just ~2 times more often than juniors. While in the CIS the trend boils down to the fact that the senior will lead a crowd of juniors, western companies try to balance the experience between developers and ‘fresh blood’.
